The "Inter-University Arabic Debate Competition" being organized through the partnership of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University (FSMVU) and QatarDebate has started with the Debate Academy that aims to disseminate the culture of Arabic debates across Turkey, as well as prepare for the first-ever National Universities Debating Championship in Turkey. The winners of the champion will be decided on December 28th, 2021, and the winners will represent Turkey in Doha.
As part of the cooperation agreement signed between Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University and Qatar Foundation on December 7, 2021, the competition forms the first leg of the "Arabic Language and Debate Center" project of the FSMVU Faculty of Islamic Sciences and QatarDebate that will cover both Turkish and international universities.
The training sessions of the debate competition started on December 20th, 2021, at FSMVU’s Topkapı Campus with the participation of 20 teams from different universities in Turkey. The competition will take place on December 25th and 26th with the final session being held on December 28th, 2021, at FSMVU’s Haliç Campus. The top three teams will represent Turkey in the "World Inter-University Arabic Debate Competition" to be held in Doha, the capital of Qatar, in March 2022.
