The final of the National Universities Arabic Debating Championship organized in partnership with Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakıf University (FSMVU), Qatar Foundation, and QatarDebate Center was held at Haliç Campus.
As the first step of the Memorandum of Understanding signed between FSMVU and Qatar Foundation in establishing the Arabic Language Teaching and Arabic Debate Center, the Championship was held between 20-28 of December 2021, with the participation of 20 universities under the coordination of the FSMVU Faculty of Islamic Sciences. Students from Selcuk University, Department of Arabic Language and Literature, and Ibn Haldun University, Faculty of Islamic Sciences made it to the finals after the qualifying sessions. The final debate on "The Assembly Prefers Economic Stability over Environmental Protection" ended with the Selcuk University students being declared winners by evaluation of the event jury.
The students of Ankara Hacı Bayram Veli University came at third place, with the best debaters among native and non-native Arabic speakers were also awarded. Four universities, together with the students of Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University, who completed the competition in fourth place, will represent Turkey in the "World Inter-University Arabic Debate Competition" to be held in March 2022 in Doha, the capital of Qatar.
