On March 22nd, 2022 we welcomed a delegation from the Sousse Polytechnic University in Tunisia consisting of General Director Ms. Bouthania Gharbi, Prof. Dr. Moncef Tagina, and Dr. Moncef Bouzidi.
The visit aimed at increasing the capacity building potentials between our respected institutions and the continuation of the existing Erasmus+ Project partnership. We started the program with a tour of our Uskudar and Halic campuses, providing detailed information on the academic structure of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences and the structure and activities of the Islamic Arts Application and Research Center including the short history of Islamic arts and the works made at the Center. Likewise, consultations were held on the experience offered by and the future plans of the Sousse Polytechnic University in the related fields.
The Historical Texture of Our Campuses
Always an impressive feature, the combination of the historical texture and modern structure of our campuses was a sight to be hold for our visitors. Visiting the Yenikapi Mawlawi Lodge and the Turkish Airlines Main Library located in our Topkapı Campus, the delegation was given detailed information on the restoration and protection techniques actively used to preserve the historical textures of the buildings, and the campus management system used.
The last stop of the delegation was the Faculty of Architecture and Design at our Haliç Campus. Meeting with our Dean of Architecture, Prof. Dr. İbrahim Numan and the Head of International Relations Department Dr. Bedia Tekin, the delegation carried out a preliminary study on the projects that can be done in the future for the continuation of the long-term cooperation between the two institutions, especially in the field of Architecture, the ongoing student and staff exchange mobility, and the efficient conduct of bilateral relations.
