Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University (FSMVU) celebrated its 12th Graduation Ceremony for the 2025–2026 Academic Year at the Halic Congress Center, marking a significant milestone for students as they completed their university education and embarked on new academic and professional journeys. The ceremony brought together FSMVU’s graduates, families, academic and administrative staff, university leadership, and distinguished guests for a day of celebration and reflection. Among this year’s graduating class were 192 international students, highlighting the University’s increasingly diverse and international community.
Celebrating Achievement and New Beginnings
The ceremony commenced with opening remarks by Prof. Dr. Erol Ozvar, President of the Council of Higher Education, Prof. Dr. Nevzat Simsek, Rector of FSMVU, and Mevlut Uysal, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Addressing the graduates, Prof. Dr. Erol Ozvar emphasised the importance of lifelong learning and encouraged students to continue developing themselves beyond graduation. He highlighted the responsibility of university graduates to contribute to society through knowledge, innovation, and a commitment to creating lasting value.
Rector Prof. Dr. Nevzat Şimşek reflected on FSMVU’s educational vision, emphasising that the University’s greatest achievement is the graduates it prepares for the future. He highlighted FSMVU’s continued progress in education, research, and internationalisation, while reaffirming the University’s commitment to combining academic excellence with ethical and social responsibility.
Chairman of the Board of Trustees Mevlut Uysal congratulated the graduating class and described graduation as not an ending, but the beginning of a new chapter. He encouraged graduates to carry the knowledge, values, and experiences gained at FSMVU into their future academic and professional lives.
International Students Among Outstanding Graduates
The ceremony also highlighted the academic achievements of FSMVU’s international students.
Adnan Kanık graduated as the top student of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, while Maha Taetae graduated as the top student of the Department of Biomedical Engineering. Their achievements stand as a source of pride for the University and reflect the academic success of FSMVU’s international student community. With students from different countries, cultures, and academic backgrounds graduating together, the ceremony also reflected the diverse community that continues to strengthen FSMVU’s international profile. The University’s international graduates represent an important part of this community, carrying the knowledge and experiences they gained at FSMVU into different countries and professional fields around the world.
A Celebration of the FSMVU Community
Following the opening speeches, outstanding students were recognised with awards and certificates of achievement, while graduates received their diplomas from members of the academic staff. The ceremony concluded with the traditional cap toss, as graduates celebrated this memorable occasion together with their families, friends, and professors. For FSMVU’s 192 international graduates, and for the graduating class as a whole, the ceremony marked the beginning of a new journey. As they move forward into new academic, professional, and personal chapters, they take with them the knowledge, experiences, friendships, and values gained during their time at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University.
