Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University (FSMVU) has been awarded five-year Full Institutional Accreditation by the Council of Higher Education Quality Board (YOKAK) under its Institutional Accreditation Programme (KAP), marking a significant milestone in the University’s commitment to quality assurance and continuous improvement. The accreditation, granted following a comprehensive institutional evaluation, recognises the strength and effectiveness of FSMVU’s quality assurance systems and institutional practices across education and training, research and development, community engagement, and governance and administrative services.
Among Six Universities Awarded Full Accreditation
FSMVU is one of six universities in Türkiye to receive five-year Full Institutional Accreditation in the 2025 Institutional Accreditation Programme cycle. A total of 39 higher education institutions were granted institutional accreditation, with the remaining 33 institutions receiving two-year Conditional Accreditation. The result highlights FSMVU’s systematic approach to quality assurance and its commitment to continuous improvement across academic and administrative processes. The University’s practices were evaluated through a comprehensive external assessment based on the principles of planning, implementation, monitoring, and improvement. The Institutional Accreditation Programme is conducted by YOKAK to evaluate the quality assurance systems and institutional practices of higher education institutions in Türkiye. The evaluation covers four principal areas: education and training, research and development, community engagement, and governance and administrative services.
Comprehensive Evaluation Process
As part of the accreditation process, FSMVU underwent an online preliminary visit on 5 November 2025, followed by an on-site evaluation visit conducted from 23 to 26 November 2025 by a YOKAK-appointed evaluation team. During the on-site visit, the evaluation team reviewed the University’s institutional practices, quality assurance mechanisms, academic and administrative processes, and ongoing improvement activities against YOKAK’s institutional accreditation criteria. The five-year Full Institutional Accreditation reflects FSMVU’s established culture of quality and its commitment to continuously strengthening institutional performance. The accreditation process also provides a framework for further enhancing the quality of education, research capacity, student engagement, stakeholder relations, and institutional governance.
Strengthening International Recognition and Quality Assurance
Institutional accreditation also contributes to the transparency and international visibility of higher education institutions. According to YOKAK, accreditation records of institutions holding Institutional Accreditation are included in the European Quality Assurance Register for Higher Education (EQAR), supporting greater visibility and recognition of institutional quality assurance processes at the European and international levels. Accredited institutions are also identified in the Higher Education Programs and Quotas Guide published by the Student Selection and Placement Center (OSYM), providing public information on institutional accreditation status.
A Milestone in FSMVU’s Quality Journey
The award of five-year Full Institutional Accreditation represents an important achievement for Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University and the culmination of a comprehensive institutional quality assurance and evaluation process. The achievement reinforces FSMVU’s commitment to maintaining high standards in education, research, community engagement, governance, and institutional management, while strengthening its culture of continuous improvement. As FSMVU continues its academic and institutional development, the accreditation serves not only as recognition of the University’s existing quality assurance practices but also as a foundation for further advancement and sustainable institutional excellence.
