Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University (FSMVU) participated in the European Association for International Education (EAIE) 2025 Conference, held in Gothenburg, Sweden as Europe’s leading event for international higher education. The conference brought together thousands of professionals and policymakers to discuss the future of global education, share best practices, and build new collaborations.
FSMVU was represented by the Directorate of International Relations, whose delegation actively engaged with both long-standing partners and potential new collaborators from Europe, Asia, and beyond. This active outreach underscored our commitment to expanding its international network and fostering sustainable academic partnerships. The delegation joined a series of high-impact workshops, sessions, and networking events, highlighting FSMVU’s dedication to inclusive and forward-thinking internationalization.
One of the highlights was the workshop “Inclusive Internationalization: An Inclusive Effort” led by Jeanine Gregersen-Hermans (Zuyd University of Applied Sciences, Netherlands) and Tiina Piipponen (Metropolia University of Applied Sciences, Finland). This highly interactive session explored the hidden curriculum, crossing institutional boundaries, and building roadmaps for truly inclusive internationalization, reinforcing the principle that internationalization is meaningful only when it ensures equity, access, and belonging for all students. We also participated in the session “Beyond the Echo Chamber: Rethinking Our (G)local Purpose with Unusual Suspects,” and attended the high-level panel “The Politics and Policies of Internationalisation: Ministers’ Views. This session provided unique insights into how national strategies, funding instruments, and legal frameworks shape international education policy at the highest levels.
FSMVU representatives further engaged in Spotlight on European Funded Programmes, From Silos to Synergies- Enhancing Effective University Networks, the Speed Networking Session, and the “Erasmus 2028-2034 Round Table,” establishing new connections and strengthening existing ones with universities and institutions worldwide. Our active involvement at EAIE 2025 in Gothenburg reflects the university’s mission to advance inclusive, impactful, and policy-aware internationalization, while continuing to grow as a hub of global academic collaboration.
