KA-171 (Incoming Teaching Staff Mobility) Project Implementation

Under the implementation of KA171 Incoming Teaching Staff, Mobility Professor Olga Kolosova and Associate Professor Artur Kireev from Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University (SPbPU) arrived at Fatih Sultan Mehmet Vakif University Istanbul. Both professors conducted an eight-hour seminar themed around TRIZ (Inventive Problem-Solving Theory) to increase administrative and academic staff effectiveness. The Scope of TRIZ revolves around solving technical problems, setting organizational objectives, choosing development strategies for the enterprise, and selecting a new product to bring to market. TRIZ fundamentally changes the technology of generating new ideas. TRIZ is not only a theory useful in engineering but it is a way of thinking, a paradigm, and a special approach to solving almost any problem. TRIZ teaches an interdisciplinary systems approach and develops the ability to overcome the psychological inertia of previous perceptions.

The seminar was divided into two stages and six phases. Academic and administrative staff members participated in this seminar and were divided into a group of 3 participants contributing to a total of three groups.

First was the Idea Generation Stage where participants were asked to work in mini-groups (3 people) by using brainstorming technology to develop possible solutions to the selected problem. The second phase in the first stage was the brain writing about crazy ideas.  The second was the Idea Estimation Stage where participants worked in the same group and were asked to evaluate ideas using the "Six Hats of Bonnet" method as the third phase.  In the fourth phase groups were asked to use the "Know How Wow" matrix to rank ideas.  In the fifth phase, a mind-mapping method was used by groups to Create a mind map of the selected idea implementation. In the sixth phase, the groups were asked to give the final presentation on the problem and its solution technique.

The seminar concluded with a ‘’Resolve Game’’ (choose the bookmark of your own choice and make a resolve and use it as a reminder to complete your resolve) and ‘’Thanksgiving’’ (Each participant picked three candies and distributed three candies among different participants with different reasons. While the one receiving the most candies outshined all) activity and announced the first (Miss. Shamsa Khalil), second (Miss. Vusala AGHAYEVA) and third winner (Dr. Enis Mansur ANAŞ) of the overall activity and distributed prizes among the three winners.

The seminar contributed to increasing creative activity aiming at personality development, creative imagination, and psychological activation.
